Community Guidelines
We take pride in keeping our message boards respectful, pleasant, and enjoyable for members of all ages. Please read the following guidelines before posting.

Do NOT Post Links To Copyrighted Material
We do not condone piracy so please do not post direct links to any copyrighted material.

Help Us Help You
When asking for help always try and give a link to a log, without this the best anyone can do give is simply guess at what your problem may be and the diagnosis could end up being very wrong for your circumstances. It takes seconds to upload a log, it can even be done from directly within Kodi using the Kodi Log Uploader add-on so there really is no excuse. If you end up having to reinstall and start from scratch because you were too lazy to upload a log then you've only got yourself to blame - heed this warning!

Post In The Correct Forum
We now have 2 separate forums, there is an Unofficial Kodi Support forum and a Community Builds forum. It should be very clear what each one is for from the titles but I will just clarify... If you have any add-on or general Kodi related questions you would obviously use the Unofficial Kodi Support forum and if you have Community Build specific questions you would post in that forum. The two forums are run by different teams and are completely different entities, this means they use a completely different database so you will need to register on both if you want to use both. Any messages posted on the wrong forum will be deleted, we have no way of moving from one forum to the other so please make sure you post in the correct forum!

Pointless Posting
DO NOT under any circumstances post pointless rubbish just to bump your post count, it makes the forum untidy and is a quick way to get yourself a permanent ban. Anyone caught quoting previous posts for no apparent reason, posting up generic text like "ok" or "thanks" and just generally wasting other forum users (and moderators) time WILL be put on a ban. If you want to boost your post count just to have access to certain site features there are plenty of ways you can do it even if you have little or no knowledge of how Kodi works. Top tips: Use the "Introduce Yourself" section to say hello to welcome yourself to the community, welcome others who may have recently joined and don't be afraid to post up a question if you have any Kodi related problems - we have a very friendly community so get involved!

Ethical Posting
Please try to keep your posts tidy and readable for our members. Give enough time for others to reply, DO NOT bombard the forum with lots of posts one after the other - it's a quick way to get yourself a 7-day ban whilst you think about how your actions are affecting others! If you've not yet had a reply and you want to edit a post and add more details click on the reply button and it will update your post with the extra details. If it's been more than 48 hours and nobody has replied then you can post again to bump the thread in case someone may have missed it.

Credit any original authors
Still on the subject of ethics, if you're relaying information you've sourced elsewhere then make sure you credit the original author and where possible add a link to the original source. If you're a developer the same goes for any re-used code, you MUST abide by the license associated with the original code and you must also credit the original author in the code. Full information can be found here - make sure you read it and understand it as this is taken VERY seriously!

Self-Promotion is Spam
All posts are read by our administration and moderation team. If we catch questionable content, it will immediately be edited or removed for further investigation. Any post that is considered advertising for one's self-interests fits under this subject.

So long as links are relevant in helping the community and they are XBMC/Kodi based it's perfectly acceptable to promote your web site(s) in your signature on the condition that you also link to noobsandnerds on your site in return. It is not possible to have links to any kind of advertising and this includes affiliate links with referrer Id's. Any such links will be removed and repeat violators who post promotional content will be permanently banned.

Selling of Community Builds is strictly prohibited
We do not condone the selling of Community Builds to the end users. Any posts promoting paid for community builds will be treated as "self-promotion" (see above). Any builders changing their minds and choosing to charge for their builds MUST let admin know they no longer wish to support their build on the forum and MUST also explain to the loyal users in the support thread why you're no longer offering support or maintaining the build. Notifying users and the admin (who allow you to get your name out there via this platform) is just common decency, anybody not following these rules will receive a full life ban. It's a very simple rule to follow and is just about common decency - if you can't behave in an appropriate manner and are not willing to play your part in helping the community you clearly do not belong here.

Support threads for Community Builds and Add-ons MUST be maintained by the author
By releasing a Community Build or Add-on you do so with the understanding that it is YOUR responsibility to look after the release thread and helping out users who may have issues with it. Support/Release threads are no longer mandatory on this site but if you do choose to create one please make sure you're subscribing to the thread and answering any questions. If it gets too much for you that's no problem, just keep the users updated or contact a member of admin and ask for your thread to be closed. We fully understand support can take up a lot of time and it does definitely bite into time you'd most likely rather be spending on development. However if you're offering support please do try to keep your users updated - even if you don't know the answer please do try to at least reply, you'll have more chance of others stepping in to try and help out then.

Language and Trolling
Our community is family-friendly. There are young users and language should be kept within a PG-13 level. Vulgar language is not allowed. This constitutes the use of any kind of offensive, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate material deemed unsafe for younger members. Inappropriate language will potentially be removed and users will be warned.

Do not post provocative, outrageous, or pointless messages only to get a response from others, i.e. "trolling." Repeat violators will be permanently banned.

Lastly, if it's abundantly clear that a user has no intention of positively contributing to discussions relating to the topic, combined with an abrasive, combative attitude, they will be banned. As this is an Kodi fansite users must demonstrate an interest in contributing to Kodi based discussions. In other words, users who wish to do nothing but argue politics or other non-Kodi issues are not welcome as they do nothing to contribute to the site and are not worth the trouble and headaches.

Personal Attacks
In order to maintain a positive atmosphere, no personal attacks or insults will be tolerated. While discussions may become heated, it is not an excuse to result to attacks or insults. There is a difference between a passionate, respectful discussion and one that delves into personal matters. Think of it as debating issues, not individuals. When the line is crossed, the discussion may be closed and any posts that go completely off topic will be deleted by the moderation team. The whole ethos of this site is to bring fun back into the community and as such as we hate to ban anyone but we will strictly enforce this rule. Depending on the severity of the attacks violaters will be given a week-long ban to think about their actions and could even earn themselves a lifetime ban.

Moderators and Administrators Have the Final Word
If you have a problem or a complaint, direct it to the administrators and/or moderators, not to the boards. The appropriate actions will be taken. We reserve the right to ban flagrant offenders when deemed necessary, with or without prior warning.

Do Not Create Duplicate Posts
If you have something to post and you're not sure which board it belongs in, do not post it in more than one board. If the administrators or moderators think it would fit better in another location, it will be moved there. Duplicate threads only serve to create confusion. Also please search to see if your topic has already been discussed, if it has please continue your post in that thread, if you can't find a relevant topic then feel free to start a new thread. The moderators reserve the right to merge topics, having multiple threads on the same topic only causes confusion. Any users found to be continually putting up duplicate posts will receive a ban, it's very annoying - please don't do it!

Do Not Post Long Code Directly On The Forum
Posting small snippets of code on the forum is perfectly acceptable so long as it's wrapped in code tags (read more about this in the hints & tips section) however posting excessively long code is not allowed. If asking for help then you should always post a link to a debug log so we can help diagnose the problem but under no circumstances should this log be posted directly on the forum. There are sites specifically designed for this sort of thing so paste your code at and then just give us the URL of where we can view your log.

Signature Rules
A typical signature contains either something fun, a favourite quote or saying or a link to useful Kodi related content. Excessive font size are not allowed. Anyone abusing this privilege will be warned and then have their signature removed until they acknowledge this guideline.

Multiple Accounts Per Individual Are Not Permitted
If you forget your password please just use the "forgot password" link to have it sent to your registered email address. If you're still having problems please contact a member of the team who will be happy to help out.

Offering Your Services
If you want to offer your voluntary based services then by all means you can post details publicly on the forum. Under no circumstances can you offer "paid for" services and EVERYTHING must be done publicly via the forum. Adding things like "PM me for more details" is not acceptable - the post will be removed and you'll receive a warning with any future misconduct resulting in a ban.

Please note that with each post, your IP address is recorded. Failure to adhere to the rules could result in a ban from this forum or your ISP contacted. This will only happen in the event of a major violation of this agreement.

Also note that the software places a cookie, a text file containing bits of information (such as your username and password), in your browser's cache. This is ONLY used to keep you logged in/out. The software does not collect or send any other form of information to your computer.

Again, please follow the above guidelines when posting on our message boards. If you have any questions, please contact us. Above all, remember to have fun!
